Dr. Michael Woods Biography

Michael D. Woods is married to Mrs. Marilyn T. Woods, a retiree from the DeKalb County Georgia Board of Education. They have three married children who have given them seven beautiful grandchildren.

Dr. Woods received Jesus as his Savior in 1976 at the All Nations Church of God of Scottsdale, GA; now known as All Nations Life and Praise, under the leadership of Pastor Keith D. Brooks.

Called to Serve

Dr. Woods has served in church leadership since 1977. In that year he became a Deacon Candidate. In February of 1978, Dr. Woods was called into the preaching ministry and was also ordained in that same year. For the following four years he served as an Associate Minister at the All Nations Church of God. From July 1982 to January 1984, Dr. Woods served as the Assistant Pastor of Pastor Michael Benton at the Fairfield Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA.

In January 1984, Dr. Woods became the Senior Pastor of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Tucker, GA. Over those years, Mt. Moriah became known as a center for expository preaching and for theological and biblical training through the Mt. Moriah Institute of Biblical Studies. That Institute served as a satellite location for three Bible Colleges where numerous men and women were trained to serve in the churches of the Atlanta area. In 2007 Dr. Woods resigned from Mt. Moriah and entered into what he thought was pastoral-retirement.

After seven years, Dr. Woods accepted the role of Interim Pastor of O’Kelly Chapel Baptist Church located in Loganville, GA. After serving in that position for 90 days, Dr. Woods accepted the Senior Pastor role at O’Kelly Chapel. After 5 1/2 years of service, Dr. Woods had fulfilled his mission of preparing them for long-term leadership and resigned in December 2018.

Destined To Lead

In 1998, Dr. Woods founded Mission Alliance International, Inc., a ministry that brought churches together to perform missionary work in foreign countries. Mission Alliance International developed a strong missionary presence in the countries of Haiti, Jamaica and Belize.

Dr. Woods is a founding member of the United Ministers Alliance of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. and was one of its primary instructors and class facilitators.

MWE Foundations

Ministry with Excellence and the MWE School of Ministry

In January of 2005 Dr. Woods founded Ministry with Excellence and the MWE School of Ministry; two ministries that encourage pastors, equip ministers, empower church leaders and edify church members in order to help each serve with excellence in his and her respective roles. Dr. Woods leads the School of Ministry that has a location in DeKalb County, Gwinnett County, Henry County and Jasper County and Online.

Dr. Woods served as an Adjunct Professor for 19 years, at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, GA In addition, he served  two three-year terms as a member of the Board of Directors.

Passion for Theology & Education

Dr. Woods is very passionate about theological and ministerial education. Dr. Woods earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible from Carver Bible College in Atlanta, GA, a Master of Arts Degree, a Master of Divinity Degree, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, GA.

Authoritatively Preaching & Teaching

Dr. Woods is the author of two books. One is a discipleship manual entitled, “What Now Lord? The second is a homiletics manual entitled “Transformational Preaching.”

Dr. Woods has done ministry in numerous cities within the U. S. and on foreign soil. Dr. Woods loves the people of God, he loves to teach and preach the Word of God and he loves helping others develop their gifts so that each can better serve in the Ministry with Excellence.
